Mountain Activities Throughout The Year!

Introducing Mountain Walking Day

A full day out in the beautiful Cairngorms National Park where you’ll be introduced to some of the skills required for you to safely enjoy walking in the mountains of the UK. We’ll introduce you to basic navigation using a map and compass including measuring distance, taking bearings, interpreting contours and how they relate to the ground, working out grid references. As well as technical skills we’ll also introduce you to any of the local inhabitants we come across and also plant life of interest.

Exploring Mountain Walking - 2 days

Including all the content of the Introducing Mountain Walking day, over the 2 days you will have a chance to put into practice your new-found navigation skills whilst grabbing a few Munros along the way in the stunning Cairngorms National Park. We'll also look at mountain safety, suitable kit, and night navigation and where GPS fits into it all. With this course there is an optional overnight stay bivying, camping or bothying.

During the day you will be able to enhance your existing navigation skills while also being introduced to further techniques such as pacing, timing, relocation and ground awareness that make winter navigation possible. You will gain confidence in your own navigational ability.
